About Veteran Services

Proudly Serving Those Who Served and Their Dependents

The Department of Veterans Services was created by the Board of County Commissioners to improve access to services for Okaloosa County veterans and their dependents. The department provides complete veterans' assistance, information, and counseling for filing, developing and appealing claims pertaining to the full spectrum of veterans' entitlements. The department also visits homebound and/or nursing home clients through its outreach program. This program is especially helpful to older veterans and their surviving spouses.

Okaloosa County is the home of 36,413 veterans per the Department of Veterans Affairs FY 2022 actuarial figures. The total VA dollars expended to eligible veterans and dependents in Okaloosa County for FY 2022 was 491,413,000.

In addition, the office schedules the DAV van for those veterans with appointments in need of transportation to the VA Outpatient Clinic in Pensacola. The van departs from Crestview, Niceville and Fort Walton Beach Wednesday and Friday, if there is a requirement. To schedule transportation to an appointment, please call 850-651-7258 or 850-689-5922.
