Veteran Services Welcome
Proudly Serving Military Veterans
The Department of Veterans' Affairs was created by the Board of County Commissioners to improve access to services for Okaloosa County veterans and their dependents. The department provides complete veterans' assistance, information, and counseling for filing, developing and appealing claims pertaining to the full spectrum of veterans' entitlements. The department also visits homebound and/or nursing home clients through its outreach program. This program is especially helpful to older veterans and their surviving spouses.

Okaloosa County is the home of 34,470 veterans per the Department of Veterans Affairs FY 2007 Actuarial figures. The total VA dollars expended to eligible veterans and dependents in Okaloosa County for FY 2007 was $95,815,000.00.

In addition, the Crestview office schedules the DAV van for those veterans with appointments desiring transportation to the VA Outpatient Clinic in Pensacola. The van departs from Crestview, Niceville and Fort Walton Beach Wednesday and Friday, if there is a requirement. Veterans from the south county area may call (850) 729-1400, ext. 5922. The Crestview number is (850) 689-5922.

Both offices are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
