Okaloosa County’s Road Department enhances road service by maintaining 638 miles of paved road, 230 miles of dirt road and 67 wood and concrete bridges. Their mission is to ensure a safer transportation system in the unincorporated areas of Okaloosa County. This mission also includes the assessment, construction and maintenance of stormwater facilities throughout the County.
The Road Department uses funds provided from state shared revenue and gasoline taxes collected and distributed by the State of Florida through Special Revenue Funds (County Transportation Trust Fund) and Capital Projects Funds (Road and Bridge Construction Fund).
