Okaloosa County's new, one-of-a-kind Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center provides a convenient, no-charge service to residents for the disposal of hazardous household waste, including pesticides, paint, pool chemicals, batteries, used oil, and gas, solvents, tar, automotive chemicals, flourescent bulbs, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, etc.
The mobile unit was purchased and modified using Florida Department of Environmental Protection grant funds. Through a cooperative effort, Okaloosa County's Mobile Collection Unit will also serve Gulf, Washington, Calhoun, Santa Rosa, Walton, Holmes, Jackson and Liberty County residents this year.
The mobile work environment is air conditioned, protected by a fire suppression system, and all interior surfaces are treated with a chemical resistant safety coating.
