Spanish Trail Scout Reservation
STSR is the council camp of the Gulf Coast Council. The reservation, which first opened in 1961, is located on Florida's Gulf Coast, about 70 miles east of Pensacola, near DeFuniak Springs. The reservation consists of two camps: Camp Euchee is a traditional camp with a full-service dining hall and trading post; campsites have canvas wall tents, cots and floors. Camp Jambo is a more primitive, jamboree-style camp. Troops camping at Jambo provide their own tents, and may either do their own cooking or eat in the dining hall at Camp Euchee. Refrigeration is provided for troops camping at Camp Jambo, but all other cooking necessities are troop responsibilities.

School Night For Scouting!
As each school year begins, local elementary schools put on a "School Night" for new scout recruits. This is the time to sign boys up to begin the scout year. Information will be presented on the individual packs and their program. Watch for flyers from school and newspaper ads for the School Night date at your school. Older boys may attend to give their name and phone number to Cub Scout Leaders who will pass information to the Boy Scout Leaders. If you miss your School Night, don't worry - its never too late to start down the Scouting Trail! Call the number above for information.

Each year the Boy Scouts hold their annual Scout-O-Rama the first weekend in April. This event is open to the public to introduce the local units to youth and their parents. There are games, crafts, sports, obstacle courses, shooting sports, and a variety of other booths. Admission is $2. for adults, children under 12 get in free with an adult. The booths are free except for the food! This event takes place at the Fort Walton Beach fairgrounds. Get tickets from local scouts or at the gate.

Popcorn Sale
A great scout fundraiser is the Annual Popcorn Sale! You can order a variety of Caramel Corns, microwave, or kernal popcorn. Scouts will be taking orders from September through the beginning of November. Popcorn usually comes in around Thanksgiving. This is gourmet style popcorn and its delicious! It makes a great holiday gift. Look for your local scouts in the fall.
